Meet Maev’s March Dog of the Month

This may come as a surprise, but there’s nothing we love more than celebrating dogs. So, each month we’re spotlighting a dog from our community. For the month of March, we’d like you to meet Wolfie the Frenchie!

Tell us about your dog’s origin story (how they chose you, how you chose them, or how they got their name).

Wolfie is a French bulldog with a cleft palate that was found at Target! Unlike most breeders who euthanize puppies born with defects, he was bred for by a teenage girl studying to be a vet. They bottle-fed him and provided the necessary care alongside her family vet. When we adopted him at 10 weeks old, his name was Bluey for his blue eyes, but when my daughters saw him, they said he looked like a little wolf, so we re-named him Wolfie. Wolf, Wolfie, Wolferkins… he answers to them all, especially if you have treats!

Intensely loud snoring and sleeping on his back like a human.

Typically, playing with his puppy siblings or his mom and dad. Car rides, new friends, and treats… always treats.

Is there anything else we should know about your dog? (think funny anecdotes, defining characteristics, etc.)

He goes crazy for ice cubes, they are his favorite treat. He often speaks almost in words and loves dog yoga.

His favorite morning routine is working out in the gym with mom and dad and then the car ride to take the kids to school.

Because he has a cleft palate, he’s unable to eat soft food as it could get lodged. Maev has been such a game changer for us because it’s frozen. He’s able to chew it up and swallow it (like he would dry kibble) without it getting stuck. Plus, the long-term benefits are going to be incredible for him. Especially being a Frenchie. They tend to have health and skin issues. We are so grateful for Maev!
